What is the DASS-21?
The Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales (DASS-21) is a 21-item self-report measure that assesses three related but distinct negative emotional states: depression, anxiety, and stress.
Developed by Lovibond and Lovibond, the DASS-21 is valued for its ability to differentiate between overlapping symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Each subscale contains seven items, producing three separate severity ratings.
How It Works
Respond to 21 items across three areas: depression, anxiety, and stress.
Each of the three subscales is scored separately, giving you a focused view of each dimension.
Receive severity ratings for depression, anxiety, and stress independently, from Normal to Extremely Severe.
What You'll Learn
- Separate severity scores for depression, anxiety, and stress
- How each dimension compares to clinical cut-offs
- Which emotional states are most elevated for you
- A multidimensional picture of your mental health
